Exploration and Discovery: this has been the theme of the Hawkman series by Robert Venditti (writer) and Bryan Hitch (artist) from the beginning. Since the first issue, we have been getting one piece of the puzzle at a time as he travels through time and space, looking for clues about himself and a way to stop the Deathbringers coming his way. We received the news that Hawkman is going to discover his true origin in issue no. 7, but the issue No. 6 that came out today (Nov. 14) had more than its share of discoveries. It appears that Venditti is setting us up for some major developments in future issues. Here's a review of issue No. 6 so if you haven't read the issue yet, go pick it up at a comic store or get it digitally and come back afterward. Don't spoil it! Go read it first!

Flash Comics No. 2 Cover Remake by Prentis Rollins
The first comic to ever feature Hawkman on its cover was Flash Comics No. 2 (cover date: February 1940, actual release date: December 15, 1939). The artist was Dennis Neville. I've always wanted to see this cover redone in the current style of Hawkman so I asked Prentis Rollins a few months ago. I am very happy with the incredible result!

With Hawkman, Time is Relative
Been thinking about the time theory that Robert Venditti brought up in Hawkman No. 5; the theory of how time is like an ocean, with all the past, present and futures floating on top. For regular people like us, and even most comic book characters, space is accessible. We can stay in one place, or we can go up, down, forward, backward, and side to side. But the one thing that we can't escape from is time. We can't go back or forward, we are prisoners in our own time. Our past selves are there, and our future selves are there. But we cannot access it. We're prisoners of the now, Edna Mode-style.

Just Like Old Times: Board Review of Hawkman No. 5
Hawkman No. 5 by Robert Venditti and Bryan Hitch was a comic book that made you remember how special a friendship can be. Over the last four months, Hawkfans have been enthralled by the adventures of Hawkman as he travels through ancient Greece, London, Egypt, Dinosaur Island, Thanagar, Indonesia and now the Microverse. In this issue, that all seemed to take a back seat to the friendship of Carter Hall and Ray Palmer. And we didn't mind at all.

Hawkman and The Atom: An Enduring Friendship
By Tim Board, Hawkworld
Art by Bryan Hitch and Alex Sinclair |
Hawkman and the Atom, aka Carter Hall/Katar Hol and Ray Palmer, have shared one of the strongest friendships in the DC Universe since their first meeting back in 1963. Ever since their first adventure, the two have shared a bond that has stood the test of time. In the current Hawkman series by Robert Venditti and Bryan Hitch, the two have finally been brought back together. At the end of Hawkman No. 4, Carter Hall was transported to the microverse and finds Ray Palmer there. In issues No. 5 and No. 6, it appears that the two heroes will be battling side by side once again. I’ve gathered together significant scenes from their history, the comic book covers they have shared, and special art and figures that feature the two heroes. It's long. I hope you enjoy the walk through their history.
