Screen Rant: DC’s Most Surprising Familial Relationships You Won’t Believe

With all of his reincarnations and past lives, Hawkman and Hawkgirl have some surprising family connections with other Superheroes. Screen Rant put out an article this week of the top ten most surprising and Hawkman made the list twice. You can check out the article here

A few years ago, I made a famly map of Hawkman. If you don't know much about Hawkman's history, this may be a lot to take in, but here it is.

I divided the family into two parts: the Earth side and the Thanagarian side. Back in 1994, the Golden Age Hawkman / Carter Hall was merged with Katar Hol of Hawkworld. Hall's memories remained, but the body was Katar's. The merge eventually drove him mad and he was sent into the Hawk Realm to save his soul. Five years later, Kendra was able to bring him back through the Well of Spirits, but he was reversed. His body was a young Carter Hall, with the memories of Katar Hol. That is what this family map is based on.

There are many heroes who are connected to the Hawks:
Superman: Hawkman is the ancestor of Jonathan Kent.
Wonder Woman: Carter and Shiera's son Hector had a child with Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor's daughter Lyta.
Doctor Fate: Carter and Shiera's son Hector eventually became Doctor Fate for a time.
Dream of the Endless (Sandman): Hector and Lyta's son Daniel beame the Dream of the Endless.
Speed Sanders/Saunders: The detective who appeared in Detective Comics No. 1 was Shiera's cousin and Kendra's grandfather.
Golden Eagle: Charles Parker was the son of Fel Andar and Sharon Parker, the secret imposters. Fel was the cousin of Shayera Thal, the Hawkwoman of the Hawkworld series.
Supergirl: Hawkman was a Kryptonian called Catar-Ol. He was the teacher of Zara Jor-el and related to her mother.
Northwind: Carter and Shiera were his godparents.

Pretty amazing list and a wealth of stories just waiting to be explored by some writers someday!
